past, future / your hair is beautiful toniiiight

UPDATE:
Happy tax day, kids! As good a time as any to break the seal on my 2-week blog hiatus (hence the blank pages above). Work has been beyond busy and it's been hard to take the time to play on the internet. But fingers crossed the hectic level will die down since today was the launch day for the massive campaign my company's doing. I'd have thought it would be more exciting, but really we were all still just sitting at our desks doing more of same. All the activity was out in the field (promotions in 6 different cities), so we won't see it until the on-site teams' videos get to us tomorrow. wheeeee. but I did get a bit of a desk break when I went to check out a new hotel for us to use for travelers (so cute! very good find. -->venice on the beach). It was a long walk, and the wind was so strong today that by the time I got back, my skin was coated in a fine layer of sand. Kind of exhilarating, heading back into the office in the same physical state as after a day at the beach. Though a hell of a lot colder, iickkkkk.

SOCIOLOGY LECTURE:

Also exhilarating: finally getting my hair cut. I always wait about a week too long to finally make an appointment, so by the time it arrives I'm on the verge of putting a bag over my head to hide the gross negligence. Haircuts are just some of the most fascinating things in the world, I think. Forever ago I did a journalism exercise & shadowed my hairstylist for a couple days. I thought it would be interesting because ladies always pour out their hearts to their stylists. True true true, but the most super interesting pattern that showed up was people's strong connection between their hair and their life. When people want their life to change, they change their hair. Guaranteed. Hair is a code for who we are (just like, hello, clothes) and when it's not how we like it, we feel like WE'RE not how we like us. I hate when my little bob grows out into Prince Valient's do, because that's not the haircut that The Person I Think I Am would pick. Feeling much better now with all my edges shortened & sharpened! And speaking of hair:

EYE CANDY:

Debbie Harry tells you your hair looks beautiful in a post-apocalyptic nightclub. God, I want HER hair. YouTube is being beastly so just click click --> Blondie - "Atomic"

POLL
:
I bet you a zillion dollars that when you've changed your hair, it's because you're also making a big change or else hoping to. New school, new job, new style, dumped your boyfriend, something. Am I right? Do you support my hypothesis, or do I owe you a made-up number's worth of dollars?

Jon and I are actually thinking about shaving our heads (like, completely) when we start our BEE Japan ride. I'd say that's going to be a pretty significant life change. So yes, I support your theory!
